The Flex Your Creativity in Black & White workshop will have you out making beautiful digital black and white photos in the countryside of southern Minnesota, with unique exercises geared at flexing your creative muscles. The locations we will visit in this workshop include a 19th century working farm and a similar vintage wooded cemetery high up on a hill overlooking the Minnesota River Valley. We will also make images on location at the Hen House, taking advantage of the historic structures and the country ambiance, enhanced by the Hen House's namesake residents, the hens of the Hen House.
One of the beauties of black and white photography is how freeing it is creatively. While we might feel bound with our color photography to stick closer to reality, it's clear that with black and white, we've departed from a literal view of our world. So in constraining ourselves to black and white, we are actually releasing our creativity.
In Flex Your Creativity in Black & White, you will learn how to capture images in digital black & white and how to create stunning black & white conversions using the powerful Silver EFEX Pro software that is part of the Nik Collection from DxO Optics. Each participant will need a copy of Silver EFEX Pro on their laptop.
The workshop fee is $300 for couples and $225 for singles. This fee covers the workshop plus a night at the Hen House and all meals and refreshments. Hen House Photography Workshops are structured a bit like a prix fixe tasting menu. For one set price, each person can take part in whatever they wish.
Check-in is 1 p.m. on the first day. The workshop will run until around 4:30 p.m. on the afternoon of the second day. All Hen House Photography Workshops finish with an image review session, followed by a closing party in the Hen House cabin, including refreshments and a slideshow of your favorite images from the workshop.
